# Understanding Contact Suppression in Kasplo

**Suppression** in Kasplo prevents contacts from receiving future communications on one or more channels (Email, SMS, or WhatsApp). Suppressed contacts are automatically excluded from all campaign sends for the suppressed channel.

### 🔒 What is Contact Suppression?

When a contact is suppressed:

* They won’t receive any messages on the **suppressed channel**
* Their **status becomes “Manually Deactivated”**
* Suppression can be **reversed** anytime from the contact profile

### 📤 Importing a Suppression List

You can bulk-suppress contacts by importing a CSV file.

#### 📁 File Requirements:

* **Max file size**: 250 MB
* **One channel per file**: Upload separate files for Email, SMS, or WhatsApp
* **Correct headers**:
  * `email` (for Email suppression)
  * `sms_number` (for SMS suppression)
  * `whatsapp_number` (for WhatsApp suppression)

> ⚠️ Use **only one header per file**.

### 🌐 Global Suppression Behavior

* Suppression is applied at the **contact level**, not just list-level
* Once suppressed, the contact is blocked **across all lists** for that channel
* For SMS/WhatsApp:
  * If the **same number exists in multiple profiles**, suppression applies **across all those profiles**

### 👀 Monitoring the Import

After uploading:

* Track progress in the **Jobs** section
* View **import status**, **errors**, and **logs**

### 🔄 Reversing Suppression

You can **manually reactivate** (unsuppress) a contact from the **profile page** if needed.

> Note: Unsubscribes, bounces, or complaints will still keep the contact suppressed unless explicitly overridden.

* Always double-check the suppression file before upload
* Use suppression responsibly — especially for shared numbers across profiles
* Use the correct channel-specific file to avoid unintended suppression
* Regularly review suppression stats on the contact or list dashboard
