# Why Are My Email Clicks Inflated? Understanding Machine Clicks in Kasplo

### What Are Machine Clicks?

Machine clicks occur when email security software automatically scans the links and images in your email. These scans are performed to ensure the content is safe for the recipient. Even though no real user interacted with your email, Kasplo records these actions in your campaign metrics, which can inflate your click and open rates.

### How Do Machine Clicks Affect My Reports?

Kasplo tracks both unique clicks (one click per recipient) and total clicks (all clicks, including repeated clicks). Machine clicks can inflate total clicks, making it appear that your recipients are engaging more than they actually are. This can distort your campaign performance metrics and make it challenging to assess genuine user engagement.

### Can We Filter Out Machine Clicks?

Currently, Kasplo cannot completely filter out machine clicks. These automated clicks are often triggered by common security tools such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, or corporate firewalls, and they closely resemble genuine user activity.

### How to Spot Machine Clicks

While removing machine clicks entirely isn’t possible, you can identify likely automated activity by looking for patterns in your reports:

* Rapid Multiple Clicks: A cluster of clicks within seconds of email delivery, especially repeated clicks from the same recipient, often indicates machine activity.\
* Post-Delivery Scans: Some email providers, including Gmail or Outlook, scan links after delivery. These delayed clicks are usually machine-generated rather than user-driven.\
### How Can This Information Help Me?

Understanding the impact of machine clicks allows you to interpret your Kasplo campaign data more accurately. Focus on unique clicks as a more reliable metric for true engagement. Being aware of machine clicks also helps explain unexpected spikes in CTR or open rates when sharing campaign reports with your team or clients.
